Emotionally Focused Family Therapy

"This workshop highlights EFT practices applied to family distress. Negative interactional patterns in parent child relationships are understood as blocks in the attachment-caregiving system that reduce a family’s flexibility to remain responsive and effective in times of growth and change. Participants follow the steps of EFFT through video examples of presenters’ work with family dysfunction. Special attention is given to working through parental blocks to accessibility, responsiveness and emotional engagement."

"Participants will:

  • Identify the EFFT process of change and markers to guide the therapist’s focus
  • Learn strategies for working through parental blocks to caregiving
  • Identify how EFFT uses enactments to promote emotional engagement in dyads and whole family interactions
  • Explore the power of vulnerability in restoring emotional balance in family relationships"
